Whim Names Pete Bakely as Playwright-in-Residence

We are excited to name Kansas City-based playwright Pete Bakely as Whim's Playwright-in-Residence!

Since 2011, Pete’s work has been regularly seen as part of the Kansas City Fringe Festival: Jet Propulsion (2011), Skillet Tag (2012), Drunks (2014) and Upskirt/Charlie’s Enormous C*ck (2016).

Skillet Tag, in addition to the Fringe Production, received the Rockhurst Plays In Progress award and was produced at The Living Room Theater in Kansas City and MadLab Theater in Columbus Ohio. The Columbus production was given an honorable mention as "Best of The Year" from local media.

As Playwright-in-Residence, Pete is developing new works for production. This includes an extended version of Drunks which Whim will produce in Spring 2017. Pete will also  provide feedback on play selection for Whim's future productions.
